Protection 101

Updated: Nov 17, 2020

Month: June 2020

There are more people online now than ever before which means the pool of potential victims has significantly grown. Predators are combing social media and gaming websites to find their next victim and according to a 2019 study*, less than 14% of parents check their children's devices, meaning any child with access to the internet is susceptible. There are many options out there to help parents in monitoring their child's devices. You can adjust settings in your internet provider, apps you can put on the smartphone and devices that work with your routers to monitor and limit access.

Because of the link between devices and human trafficking it is important to be knowledgeable about the resources out there. Some of these are ones I personally use at our house and others are ones that our partners advocate for.

Websites:

Third Party Apps and Devices

● Bark https://www.bark.us/

● Net Nanny: https://www.netnanny.com

● Family Time https://familytime.io/

● eBodygaurd https://ebodyguard.org/

● Circle https://meetcircle.com/

● Gryphon https://gryphonconnect.com/

Personally, we have several layers of protection to safeguard our children at our house. Not only do we have settings set up with our individual Internet provider, but we also have the Disney Circle, utilize parental controls settings within her smart devices and use Family Time.
