Pancakes4Freedom Does it Again!!!!

Updated: Dec 1, 2020

Month: February 2020

On January 11, Youth4Abolition™ (Y4A) students from multiple chapters across North and South Carolina put together their second annual successful pancake breakfast prevention and awareness event supporting National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Y4A leadership and club members from Olympic HS, Nation Ford HS and one of our newest chapters, Weddington HS, raised funds for On Eagles Wings while raising community awareness of the issue. Students organized, sold tickets, gathered donations, made and served the breakfast and shared Youth4Abolition™ student-produced videos. You can see them here!

Over 225 community members attended. The highlight of the morning was a panel discussion featuring professionals from across the spectrum of the human trafficking issue. Former NC State Representative Bill Brawley and current Charlotte Mecklenburg school board member Margaret Marshall were among the panelists. Students shared statistics on stage while Fields of Hope™, and new “Not for Sale” Y4A t-shirts were among the information booths on hand. Several local news stations covered the action. See news story link here.

Total funds raised are still being tallied and will be shared soon. Thank you to all our students, parents and sponsors helping to lead the way for this great event.
